I am applying for the Junior SOC Analyst role. Your post asks for Splunk, alert triage and clear incident notes. Those are the three things I have practised most over the last year.
In my home lab I collect logs from three Windows hosts and one Linux host in Splunk, and I wrote eight detection rules mapped to MITRE ATT&CK. I triaged twenty simulated brute force and phishing alerts and wrote a short note for each one: what fired, what I checked, and what I would escalate. At work, in IT support, I reviewed firewall and VPN logs after three account lockouts and reported the cause to the security team.
I hold CompTIA Security+ and I am ready for shift work. I would be glad to walk you through my lab and my incident notes in an interview.
