IT Operations & Cybersecurity Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IT Operations & Cybersecurity Specialist based in Saudi Arabia.

Join a distributed technology team dedicated to delivering reliable IT operations and strengthening cybersecurity for organisations that handle sensitive data. In this remote, hands-on role, you will manage day-to-day IT administration, support users, and maintain secure digital environments for multiple clients. You will work with modern cloud productivity platforms, endpoint management tools, and automation technologies to ensure systems remain secure, compliant, and operational. Beyond routine IT support, you will contribute to security initiatives involving vulnerability research, device hardening, and incident response documentation. This position offers an opportunity to develop your cybersecurity expertise while taking ownership of operational responsibilities. You will thrive in an autonomous, asynchronous working environment that values reliability, continuous learning, and practical problem-solving.

Accountabilities

• IT Administration: Provision and manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and licences across Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, ensuring secure and efficient access to business applications.

• Endpoint Management: Prepare and onboard Windows and macOS laptops into mobile device management (MDM) platforms, coordinate remote device handovers, and maintain appropriate device configurations.

• Technical Support: Handle first-line support requests, including password resets, access issues, and routine troubleshooting, while escalating more complex incidents when necessary.

• IT Maintenance and Monitoring: Conduct weekly maintenance checks covering software patch status, backup logs, security alerts, and general system health to help maintain reliable operations.

• Documentation and Process Improvement: Document technical fixes, standard operating procedures, and runbooks to improve consistency, knowledge sharing, and operational efficiency.

• Cybersecurity Projects: Dedicate approximately 20% of your time to security-focused initiatives, including CVE research and briefings, laptop hardening scripts, incident-response playbooks, and ISO 27001 checklist development.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline IT workflows, strengthen security practices, and improve service delivery across a distributed client environment.

Requirements

• Professional Experience: At least two years of hands-on experience in IT operations, helpdesk support, systems administration, or a comparable technical role.

• Cloud Administration: Practical experience administering Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, including user and group management, security policies, permissions, and basic troubleshooting.

• Endpoint Management: Familiarity with MDM solutions such as Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or equivalent platforms, including device enrolment and configuration.

• Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python, with the ability to automate routine tasks and improve operational workflows.

• Communication Skills: Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to document technical processes clearly and collaborate effectively with distributed teams. German language skills are an advantage.

• Remote Working Readiness: A reliable internet connection, a professional remote working environment, and the ability to work independently across different time zones.

• Personal Attributes: A proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach, with strong troubleshooting skills, sound judgement, and a willingness to learn and take ownership of responsibilities.

• Preferred Qualifications: Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert, Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator, or Google Workspace Administrator certifications are advantageous.

• Security Knowledge: Exposure to cybersecurity and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar standards is a plus.

Benefits

• Competitive Compensation: Hourly compensation within the advertised range of €10–€18, with the original role description specifying a typical rate of €12–€16 per hour, paid in euros.

• Fully Remote Work: Work remotely from anywhere.

• Autonomy and Ownership: Take responsibility for your area of work, manage your tasks independently, and contribute directly to operational improvements.

• Professional Development: Build practical cybersecurity experience through hands-on projects involving vulnerability research, endpoint hardening, incident response, and compliance.

• Career Growth: Opportunity to expand your responsibilities and progress into a broader role as the team grows.

• Flexible, Asynchronous Culture: Benefit from an async-first working environment, with occasional video meetings scheduled during hours compatible with Central European Time (CET).

• Practical Security Experience: Develop your technical capabilities while working across IT administration, endpoint management, automation, and security operations.
